The seller put "Roadstar" in the ad for this guitar, so we had to do a bit of digging to find out which one, since there are a few of them. Thankfully, the Roadstar is a well-documented series. At least, most types can be traced in the catalogs throughout the years, but this one was hard to find. It looks a lot like the RS440 (there's room for two single coils beneath the pickguard), but if you look closer, you notice that the guard is screwed on in different places. Also, it's not the original pickguard, so we couldn't be sure that this form, which is slightly different from most of the Roadstar pickguards, actually belonged on this model. But finally we concluded that this must be an RS528 in an undocumented colour, which was made for the Japanese market only in 1985. It's not that surprising really, because even though the pearl is nice, the combination with black is not great. It does not compare to the Wine Pearl of the RS530, not to mention the Marine Sunburst of the RS315.
