How long should you wait to decide whether to place a bid on that older but affordable Mayones? Well, a week turn out to be just right because when we do, our bid is the first one and it is accepted immediately. Since Zwijndrecht is a little out of the way for us, we asked sister and brother-in-law to pick it up for us. No problem, brother-in-law says, I will gladly pick up a guitar from José. Unfortunately, whereas this name is usually reserved for Dutch women, this turned out to be the Spanish version of the name and so José was a man. His disappointment made for a nice story though :-)
There is not much to be found on the internet about the older Mayones models, so we simply send an email to Mayones in the hopes of at least establishing that it is indeed an original one. The reponse is quick and Artur tells us it is indeed an original 1994 Mayones. Back then, they used alder for the bodies and ash for the necks and WSC hardware, which fits what we see. The KTM does not look like any of the beauties they make nowadays, but it's still nice to have one from the early years.
